Black Forrest, Germany

5 days in europe and we love it!

Firstly check out our new bling for our bikes Carbon Citec wheels!!

                                                  (Karle and Katie)(haha)

Wednesday night was a late arrival it was not until after 1.30 in the morning we reached our accommodation, a really neat old castle converted to a hostel!

However every thing went perfectly and our car met us at the airport and our thule bike rack fit perfectly with the bikes.

We woke nice early thanks to jet lag and enjoyed a full breakfast before heading to Black Forrest in Germany to where we would be staying for the next week.Joe and Katrin arranged everything for us to stay with their parents Karle and Annemarie There home is lovely and they have spoilt us over the past few days. Black forrest is the perfect training ground with mountains and the optional flat recovery ride with the amazing Offenburg World cup track a short drive away.

This is Thomas our dinner time translator

On Saturday and Sunday we watched the world cup as we mentioned we felt it was a good choice for us not to race, as one could easily make a mistake at a race of that level and with jetlag it was not a risk we wanted to take so early in our plan. We learnt a lot from watching, it is not often you get the chance to watch your own race and see what it takes to be the winner of the world cup!!! So it was a valuable trip. We also got to support fellow kiwi´s Sam Shaw, Karen Hanlan and Rosara Joseph!

We have had some great training here and are looking forward to tomorrow where we will have our last hard session in black forest on the world cup tarck before leaving Wednesday morning back to Switzerland. Where we will be staying with Katrin in Adliswil, Switzerland which is not too far from our first Swiss cup in Granichen! Can´t wait to race!!!!

Will keep every one updated!!!!

Switzerland bound

We ran out of time to update everyone before we flew out at the moment we are on route to Seoul in South Korea where we have an 18 hour stop over and put up in a very flash hotel for the night. Be good to look around another part of the world.
Any way a few more thank you’s to...
Pete and Julia Calnan, the Whakatane lions club, and Greg from Thule for getting a bike rack sorted for us in less than a week. And thanks to our grandparents and mums for giving us more money in the last few days.
We had been thinking about racing the Offenburg world cup 2days after arriving, but we feel this could be a bad idea due to jet lag so it’s a good idea to sit it out so we don’t get sick/injured or some think stupid early on. We may still do the pro eliminator race which is a 4x type event around a short 1min 30sec lap with the top 2 progressing to the next round... seen as massive power units have been winning I don’t think we will last long
For Korea it looks mean for what we have seen so far... a bit smoggy! Wish we had more time to check it out, we sacrificed site seeing for a core work out this morning so Evan, Sam and Jane will be impressed or shocked!
Ill update the rest of the flying and driving through Switzerland when we get to Germany on the 26th (27TH NZ)
Hope winter treats everyone well

New Bikes are here

On Monday our flash new bike's arrived and the bike culture boys have tricked them out with a few lighter parts so we are ready to roll.
Our other bikes are for sale, if you or anyone you know needs a bike ($3000) we need the cash for Europe so the sooner they sell the better. If you want any more info on the bikes email us

Thanks
